A RECENT snap poll conducted by the Federation of Small Businesses for Northern Ireland (FSB NI) has confirmed that the majority of local small businesses would like to see an increase in destination routes, as well as airline providers, from George Best Belfast City Airport, conveying evident support for expansion at the airport. This morning the Federation of Small Businesses in Northern Ireland hosted the first debate amongst all of the European candidates (Jim Allister didn’t turn up and Basil McCrea was representing NI21.) The event was attended by around 80 people at the top floor of the Europa Hotel. Could raising the minimum wage hurt NI?

Last week the Tories did do a masterful job of combining their message of a growing economy with fairness by arguing that the minimum wage should rise from £6.31p to £7 per hour. As the IMF pointed out today prospects for the British economy are looking better but we have to remember that Britain is hardly enjoying a balanced recovery as most of the job creation still goes on in the South-East of England.
