After an undeniably exciting start to the ICC World Twenty20 this weekend, Ireland prepare to enter the fray tomorrow in Nottingham with a crucial game against Bangladesh. Due to a rather strange format (whats new?) the Irish side know that if they win the game, they take their place in the Super Eight phase of a world tournament once again after Indias comfortable win over the Tigers yesterday. Ireland start as more convincing underdogs than usual Bangladesh have much more experience in this format (ICL / IPL) but as the magnificent Dutch proved in the drizzle at Lords on Friday evening, anything can happen in a 40 over thrash. If anyones interested, Ill occasionally be tweeting from Trent Bridge tomorrow on a big day for Irish cricket from http://twitter.com/davehartin at least until the Radcliffe Road end starts rocking! England were pathetic against the Netherlands and got exactly what they deserved including a searing critique from Andrew Millar on Cricinfo. Tonights game is an absolute must win against the mercurial Pakistan. Even considering the World Cup debacle of 1999, going out after 48 hours of your home tournament (Ashes or not) is a disgraceful performance from a team of professionals. England have turned to the injured KP and the spin of Swann with Morgan missing out. England bat first after losing the toss thats the first thing to go against them, as it seems that the good teams find it easier to chase. Should be interesting.
