Slugger live reporting from the Fianna Fail Ard Fheis…

Fianna_Fáil_logoSo for the first time (I think), Slugger will be reporting live from the Fianna Fail Ard Fheis in the RDS in Dublin this weekend. I will do my no doubt imperfect best to channel our own Alan in Belfast, by recording speeches and interviews with leading politicians and ordinary activists alike inside the party. I also hope to talk to some of the non party guest speakers.

The Clar, or programme, for the event is here. Topics I’m particularly interested in covering include: political reform (Friday evening after the opening speech); Professor Tim Bale on the challenges for FF revival; Reimagining Rural Ireland on Saturday morning; and in the afternoon for a session on gender balance. There’s also a session on new media and one youth engagement I will try to get along to…

I am hoping to catch up with the party leader at some point… I’ve started to put together some questions (obviously with something of a northern bent to them) but you are more than welcome to post your own either in the comment zone below, or on the Google moderator page here where you can add your own and vote others questions up and down.

I’m also keen to bring together an informal group of party activists to draw out their views not simply about the future of the party but the wider future of Republicanism in Ireland, both north and south… If you are going to be there and are interested sign up at the Google plus or Facebook event pages…

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported.
