  • Reader

“You know there’s a petition to keep you out of the UK?”

  • Zig70

signed 2 today, one with 38degrees to rescind his degree, the other to refuse him entry. Sure it will do bugger all good but it cheered me up.

  • Robin Keogh

  • mac tire

Gerry: “I bet Mick Fealty will post this pic in 20 years time.”
Donald: “No Bother, sure that would be just stupid.”
    Gerry: “You’re on!”

  • whatif1984true

So you can just say ANYTHING and voters believe you, wow could I do that?

  • Nordie Northsider

It’s not a caption, but it looks to have been a tender moment between the two. Donald isn’t so much shaking Gerry’s hand as stroking it.

  • Twilight of the Prods

‘ REPUBLICAN MILITANT URGED BOMBINGS, LONG WAR’

Sure didn’t Ronald Regan once say that Osama bin laden was a freedom fighter. Aye I know and didn’t Margaret Thatcher once believe Nelson Mandala was a terrorist.

  • the rich get richer

BOTH : They’ll never believe where we will be in 20 years time ! ! !

  • Theelk11

“I know Donald this, is amazing, for you obviously …but once Mandela has shook this hand, we both will always be one step away from greatness.. Nelson will definitely get a kick on out of it as well”

  • TruthToPower

Will Irish Republicans smuggle him into Northern Ireland in women’s clothing if he is banned from the UK just like they did with Martin Galvin of Noraid fame?

  • TruthToPower

    “Oh you’re a terrorist but I like you “

  • Ernst Blofeld

    “Donald where’s yer trewsers ”

  • Ernst Blofeld

I hear the ministry of information are great payers

  • SeaanUiNeill

They’ll really have do do something about the comb over……

  • SeaanUiNeill

But Charles’s seldom tell him exactly where the bodies may be found.

  • Ernst Blofeld

” What a lovely ulster scots name you have mr adams im so jealous ”

  • Ernst Blofeld

    Both saying it.

  • MainlandUlsterman

We Republicans can learn from each other. Now tell me, what is this “lowest common denominator” thing, it sounds great …?

  • Ernst Blofeld

Do you fancy a maccy d’s im hank marvin

  • MainlandUlsterman

Mr Adams, I’ve been meaning to get your advice. I’m told you know about (whispers) murdering people, then persuading the world it wasn’t really your fault. It might just work. Tell me more …

  • Jollyraj

When are youse European planters gonnae withdraw and give the land back to the native Americans? Ye’s have about as much right to be in America as the pradestants do in Ireland.

  • Sir Rantsalot

It’s funny, but not surprising, how the slugger chuckies try to make a positive of the picture. We know you’re on you’re tour of duty for the cause, but please try and lighten up !

  • Nevin
  • SeaanUiNeill

Oh dear, and there was me thinking he’d simply “drone” remove the turbines ruining the view from the Turnberry links once he had absolute power as Master of the Globe………..

  • SeaanUiNeill

“Don, Don, anyone once elected can……….”

  • Nevin

The ‘galoon’ will be avoiding Mullaghbreedin in Fermanagh!

  • SeaanUiNeill

Much to be desired, considering my own associations with nearby Crom……

  • Nevin

But will he occupy the West Wing?

  • SeaanUiNeill

You have just given me the utterly horrible image of sleepy Crom and its ancient woodlands transformed into a Trump Golf course…………”the Trump of Doom”?

  • SeaanUiNeill

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Dance

Are not the annual 12th Commemorations a kind of inverted “Ghost Dance”?

  • SeaanUiNeill

“Is there anything now, I’d need to know about, Gerry….”

    http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2015/12/donald_trump_picked_stock_frau.html

  • Sharpie

“You look so ….manly and yet…. your hands are so….soft”

  • Jollyraj

    No.

  • Jollyraj

If you did in the US what you’ve been doing over in the UK, Mr Adams, you’d be wearing orange permanently!

  • SeaanUiNeill

Really, have you thought about it properly?

“According to the teachings of the Northern Paiute spiritual leader Wovoka (renamed Jack Wilson), proper practice of the dance would reunite the living with spirits of the dead, bring the spirits of the dead to fight on their behalf, make the white colonists leave, and bring peace, prosperity, and unity to native peoples throughout the region”.

I’d always assumed that the 12th “demonstrations” could be said to fit this description almost exactly if you were to substitute “make the white natives leave” (seen on a Rathcoole gable wall: “Irish Out”) and “and bring peace, prosperity, and unity to planter peoples throughout the region”…………

And the Ghost dance is about going round in circles and pounding the earth with your feet……….

  • Jollyraj

While it is novel to see an Irish nationalist going against the grain and not doing the usual lazy trick of claiming an extremely tenuous kinship with every oppressed people on the face of the earth, no, I really cannot see any particular similarity between the two things. Beyond the fact that they both are manifestations of the human spirit beseiged by double-dealing and endless hypocrisy. I think you just want to flaunt the fact that you know how to look up something on the internet (albeit only Wikipedia).

  • SeaanUiNeill

Jollyraj, my grandmother was one of the “Protestant Ladies” who attempted to turn over “that auld turncoat” Churchill’s car in 1912, and a quare number of my family even signed the Covenant, a few were even at Thiepval, one of them a fluent Irish speaker. Not quite yer “common or garden” Irish Nationalist (am I even really an Irish Nationalist?) …….but certainly someone who contributes articles for Wikipedia……and if you’d ever read my musings on history across Slugger, you’d scarcely want to start me “flaunting’…..

Always amused by the parallels between things, and especially, as a loyal subject of King Francis:

    http://www.jacobite.ca/kings/francis2.htm

I’m very interested in some aspects of the Orange myth, especially those involving “double-dealing and endless hypocrisy”.

Oh, and just as information, a spattering of both Jewish and Cherokee blood from an American marriage in my family from rather some time back…….so I actually do have “an extremely tenuous kinship with [at least two] oppressed people on the face of the earth”……..

  • Jollyraj

As impressive as it undoubtedly is that you had grandparents and great grandparents, and that you have posted things online, I refer you to my original answer. I don’t really see any notable similarity, particularly since the Ghost Dance was the last, failed stand of an utterly demoralized people who had been broken by a vastly numerically superior force and generations of ethnic cleansing. And the other, well, isn’t.

  • SeaanUiNeill

    “And the other, well, isn’t.”

I get to hear about how the Loyal Orange Institution is faring, from my brother who is a PM of a County Down Lodge. You would appear to be living in a very, very different universe to that he inhabits………….

Oh, I was clearly pointing out that some of us are not sitting on one end or other of the Nationalist/Unionist See-saw, the family anecdotes were (as usual) simply to add some colour…..

  • mickfealty

Very good. Hopefully that will be a matter for the futures historical record…
