BIG Politics Pub Quiz- Less Than One Week To Go!

We are less than a week away from the BIG Politics Pub Quiz which is being hosted in partnership with Queen’s raif yellowUniversty’s School of Politics and International Relations and Amnesty International.

Held in the Black Box and kicking off at 8pm with some of the best political minds in the business, Claire Hanna, David Ford, Emma Pengelly, Mike Nesbitt and Vernon Coaker as our quiz masters.

Half of all the proceeds raised by the quiz will be donated to Amnesty’s campaign to free the Saudi Blogger, Raif Badawi who today was awarded the Sakharov human rights prize and the other half will be used to keep Slugger lit as we approach the next Assembly election.

There are still some tickets available for the quiz and we have some great prizes donated very generously by a few friends of the website.

Courtesy of Statagem and No Alibis Bookstore we have as our top prize a collection of political books and dvds with everything from “Call me Dave” to the first season of House of Cards.

Then we have very generously donated by Hilden Brewery, Clearsky Brewing and The Vineyard we also have a collection of beers, ciders and spirits to give away to some well deserving teams. Including Ruby Blue Vodka from Hughes Craft Distillery and Long Meadow Cider.

Also this year we will have prizes for the best team name and the funniest answers too.

Please book your tickets now and just in case you forgot here’s the state of play from the last quiz in March. Can you knock the UUP off their winning spot?

We are reader supported. Donate to keep Slugger lit!

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported. Help us keep Slugger independent by becoming a friend of Slugger. While we run a tight ship and no one gets paid to write, we need money to help us cover our costs.

If you like what we do, we are asking you to consider giving a monthly donation of any amount, or you can give a one-off donation. Any amount is appreciated.
