Why not write for Slugger?

Have opinions to share? Want to get something of your chest? We are looking to recruit new writers for slugger.

While we are known for our political coverage we also welcome contributions in other areas such as the economy, health, culture etc.

We want to have a greater range of voices on the site so we especially welcome enquires from women, ethnic minorities and others with views not normally heard online.

We prefer if you use your real name as it adds more credibility but you can use a pseudo name if you wish.

To get started all your need to do is send an example of your writing it can be on any topic at all. Aim for between 500 and 1000 words. Send your enquiry to [email protected]

Do I get paid?

Nope. You may notice there are no ads on slugger and we receive no grants. We have zero income, the whole site runs on goodwill (and tips from the tip jar).

Do I have to commit to anything?

No. You can write as often as you like, it is entirely up to you.

I am not sure if I am any good?

Let us be the judge, send us an example of your writing and we can give you feedback.

Do I need any special training?

No. If you can send an email you can use our system, it is really easy to use.

We are reader supported. Donate to keep Slugger lit!

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported. Help us keep Slugger independent by becoming a friend of Slugger. While we run a tight ship and no one gets paid to write, we need money to help us cover our costs.

If you like what we do, we are asking you to consider giving a monthly donation of any amount, or you can give a one-off donation. Any amount is appreciated.
