“…go around to every fool on this planet and open their eyes to the mountains that surround them in life.”

And as much as I’d love to go around to every fool on this planet and open their eyes to the mountains that surround them in life, I can’t. But maybe if I shout from mine they’ll pay attention.

The words of Donal Walsh who passed away yesterday at the age of 16.

If you need some inspiration today (or anyday), have a read of today’s piece about his short life in the Indo,  or just watch a brief video on his battle with cancer here,  or about his recording a video to try and reach out to suicidal teens and watch him discuss it with Brendan O’Connor on the Saturday Night Show, as he says:

If I’m meant to be a symbol for people to appreciate life, then I’ll be happy to die.

Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.

Only heard about this young man due to a tweet of condolence posted by the DFM. A swift Google search revealed a truly inspirational story. Donal’s story in his own words was powerful beyond anything you could expect from a teenager.

Proof that you don’t need a long life to have a valuable and meaningful life.

    Rest in Peace, young man.
