  • Drumlins Rock

I love the google translate version, Omeath became “From Rich” and Kilkeel became “Cell Channels”.

As for the 26 county referendum on a United Ireland, I presume it is mainly a stunt so that they can label the goverment “West Brits” when it is laughted out of town, surely they aren’t serious?

There is a small part of the unionist in me that panics occasionally that nationalists might actually come up with a plan that could bring a United Ireland closer, but as usual all they come up with is hair brained schemes like this.

  • salgado

These are the unofficial referenda that on average have a turnout of 27% (which invariably shows a large majority)?

Are SF likely to get a higher turnout, or will this similarly just become a poll of what their own supporters think?

  • salgado

To add – I have no doubt that the RoI would support a United Ireland in a referendum, but I’m not sure this stunt will go beyond small groups of SF supporters.

  • GavBelfast

    A 26-county referendum? All a bit partitionist, isn’t it?

“Sinn Féin plan Catalan style referendums”

    whys this part in English?

  • Blissett

Bhí mise ag an scoil samhraidh ceánna, agus tuigeadh dom go raibh SF ag smaoineamh ar na ‘reifreann’ seo ar fud an 32 contae, ach ní dóigh liom go bhfuil sé sin cinnte ar chor ar bith.

was at the summer school, think that what was said was they were considering it for the 32 counties, but dont think it was much more than an idea really

  • Mar a deirtear sa tuairisc, luadh é mar smaoineamh ar an ardán agus seiceáil mé ansan é an raibh níos mó i gceist ná caint agus dúradh liom go raibh. Léiríonn rogha an aoi, Alfred Bosch, a rinne a léithéid, go bhfuil pleán éigean in aigne SF. An dtiocfaidh rath air, bhuel sin scéal eile.
