“So far, no replacement has been named for Declan Kelly”

As the Irish Echo notes, the US State Department has “nothing to announce at this time” on whether there will be another economic envoy to Northern Ireland appointed.  The report also notes that the economic envoy’s website is now a “password protected area” – but it was registered by Declan Kelly Consulting.  From the Irish Echo report

Kelly, resigned his position earlier this month. A State Department spokeswoman refused to directly respond to the question of whether the Obama administration would appoint another envoy when asked by the Echo.

“So far, no replacement has been named for Declan Kelly,” wrote the spokesperson in an email. But asked pointedly if there were to be any replacement at all, she said she had nothing to announce at this time.

    …and have we really noticed?

  • Robbo and McGuinness are off to the States in a few weeks with Invest NI. Surely that would provide the right opportunity for such an announcement?

Might it just not be the simple fact that Norn Irn has slipped below the radar again. It is no longer an issue for the USA. Period.

Which brings me to my second point: why exactly are PR & MMcG going to America with hands outstretched? The USA debt is approx. $55.5 trillion and rising http://www.usdebtclock.org/ They have soup kitchens, millions unemployed, former industrial areas are now wastelands and our heroes are going over to plead our ‘special’ case. God help their wit. At least it stops them crapping in the street.
