Dublin Bombing: “Somebody shouted: ‘It’s a fucking bomb!’”

One of the many pieces of unfinished business from the troubles is the bombing of Dublin and Monaghan 37 years ago on Tuesday last… My memory of it is at the time is that it was just one more ghastly step on the road to hell, that most us could not really understand…

At the time, the Ulster Workers Strike meant no buses, no trains and no school… The murderous routine of sectarian tit for tat murder of Catholics and Protestants drip dripped onwards… as politicians and terror organizations joined forces on the streets and in factories determined to bring down the power sharing government of the day…

Meanwhile Nicholas Mackey was a few years older and a hundred miles closer… He grabbed his camera that day, and now shares his horrific memories of what the bombers did to some of the ordinary people of Dublin that day…
