Launching the UTV Twitter Road Shows…

As some of you may have seen last night or on Twitter, I’ll be hosting a number of Twitter Roadshows for UTV over the next few weeks. In all there will be four of events, starting next Tuesday evening at the Park Avenue Hotel, (our initial thread on East Belfast is still rolling) where the discussion will focus on issues relating to East Belfast (hashtag: #Bele11).

There are only a small number of spaces available on the night, as I’ve said in the clip above, so you will need to book to make sure you have a place. And you don’t need to tweet to come along. But do come along and tell us:

What the big local issues are for you?
How you think the Executive have performed?
How things are going in the Assembly and Council elections?
And tell us your hopes for the next administration.

More specifically, if you do Tweet, pass on the word. On the night, even if you can’t make it on the night you should be able to contribute remotely, and we’ll be picking them and using them to stimulate the conversation at each of the venues.

Despite the fact we are starting in East Belfast (how could we not?), this is very much about getting the conversaion out of the Belfast media bubble and beyond the cut and thrust of party political politics we’re used to on Slugger.

So, if you live in North Antrim, Fermanagh and South Tyrone, or Foyle we really need to your help to get the word out out locally via Twitter and/or Facebook by retweeting or ‘liking the UTV page, this blog, or the UTV Twitter Road Trip booking pages.

The second, North Antrim (#nan11) event takes place next Wednesday at the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena. We’re still deciding on the Foyle and FST venues (all suggestions gratefully received, here or on Twitter!!). All events kick off at 6.30 and will run for about an hour and a half depending on how well things go.

If you want to keep up with news of how things are going, the hashtag on Twitter for the project is #UTVTrip…

We are reader supported. Donate to keep Slugger lit!

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported. Help us keep Slugger independent by becoming a friend of Slugger. While we run a tight ship and no one gets paid to write, we need money to help us cover our costs.

If you like what we do, we are asking you to consider giving a monthly donation of any amount, or you can give a one-off donation. Any amount is appreciated.
