We can now officially add Batt O’Keefe to the official resignations. So, if it was a Fianna Fail ‘stroke’, it’s not a very effective one. John Curran, the party’s chief whip, has indicated to Sean O’Rourke that the Taoiseach will be reassigning portfolios to cabinet colleagues.

So much for the noise of rescue helicopters to hoist backbenchers to ministerial safety from the roof of Leinster House?

Update: Greens seem to have cut Cowen off at the past and are now pushing for a foreshortened timetable for an election…
