Jeffrey Donaldson has been getting himself heavily involved in the fight for compensation for the victims of the IRA’s Libyan weapons (indeed there is currently a video of his BBC interview on the DUP website). This is undoubtedly an excellent idea and as the American victims of Libyan terrorism have gained compensation the idea that people here affected by their proxies should receive compensation seems only just. However, as Jim Allister has pointed out an attempt to gain compensation would be immensely helped if the Deputy First Minister directly provided information about the arms shipments. Of course that is not going to happen but I doubt we will see the DUP mentioning it or Jeffrey demanding his boss (McGuinness) in the First Minister’s department help.
