A bit of a ruck over Derry City’s hospitality tent…

First, well done to the Candy Stripes for getting to the next round of the Europa Cup, by beating Skonto Riga 1-0. But it was preceded by a bizarre little silly season story in which former Derry City supporter Gregory Campbell along with SDLP councillors came to the rescue of the club over the funding of a hospitality tent it wanted at the ground. Sinn Fein councillors took the view that the club should have sought catering facilities in the local area around the Brandywell ground.

Shinners got that one wrong. Fair play to Gregory and the others, it’s a big deal and great to see Derry punching above their weight as usual.

And interestingly, Sinn Fein were seen enjoying the hospitality in the marquee after opposing it. It’s less of a u-turn than we’ve seen previosly from them though over bigger things. What happened to principles?

Quite why Gregory Campbell had to add the proviso “Whatever the football club…” is beyond me.

“And interestingly, Sinn Fein were seen enjoying the hospitality in the marquee after opposing it. It’s less of a u-turn than we’ve seen previosly from them though over bigger things. What happened to principles? ”

    Obs

If you’d bothered to read the report, Sinn Fein councillorsopposed the marquee on the grounds of costs. I’d hardly call their subsequent appearance (at least, according to you) at the marquee a betrayal of principles.

Perhaps the Shinners really wanted it , and their Unionist cousin Gregory fell for the bait .
” they will get it even if they dont want it ” , so There !.
Me , I’m a super cynic when it comes to our super politicos .

Where are you getting this from? There are no such local facilities. The Guildhall is where they wanted them to hold it, I assume, and that’s quite a bit away.

former Derry City supporter Gregory Campbell”

So what idiotic reason has Gregory given for being a former supporter?

If PSF are determined to save some money, they could sell the Mayors car.
