Get the boot into racism

Belfast’s annual Anti-Racism World Cup is confirmed as taking place Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August at Donegal Celtic’s grounds and they say they are looking teams. A Slugger team would be a bit of craic, give me a shout if you’re up for it.

Would you allow an Orange Lodge team? I’ll see what I can do 😉

    Mark

I assume you play on the left and never on the right. You should ask Turgon to play on the far right for your team!

Sammy Morse could play in the centre.

  • the joxer

will your team be an All-Ireland or Norn Iron team, Mark?

The Anti-Racism World Cup with Donegal Celtic – oh, by the way, Prods aren’t welcome. We didn’t say anything about sectarianism.

  • Mark McGregor

    wb,

For some reason I was hoping Sammy would volunteer for nets ;0)

    joxer,

To avoid controversy and in the spirit of the competition I would suggest the team wears the colours of Côte d’Ivoire.

Seriously though if people are up for it I’ll do the organising and managing (not playing).

Thanks. Is it all right for an Orange Lodge team to participate?

  • Mark McGregor

    UMH,

You have the link, if you want to get at team together drop them a mail. If you are just dicking about don’t.

  • the joxer

‘Is it all right for an Orange Lodge team to participate?’

Well, they’re well-used to taking the field, UMH, but if they play at walking pace, they could be in trouble.

I’ll get me coat on the way out..

Pity there’s no solidarity with Cuba’s political prisoners or gay victims of the Palestinian authority.

  • WB/Slugger

I’m always up for a bit of craic, but I warn you I’m shite at football and also seriously out of condition as I haven’t cycled more than 100 miles in the past two years.

  • Mark McGregor

Good man Sammy. That’s me and you so far. Though I’m sure we can use our charms on at least Keith and Gonzo (they’re easily influenced). We aren’t a kick in the arse off kicking racism in the arse for Slugger.

What’s the odds on a Real IRA vs Continuity IRA final?

  • Blue Hammer

// What’s the odds on a Real IRA vs Continuity IRA Final?

    Not good, unless it’s 5-a-side.

  • Mark McGregor

2 needed (we don’t need subs do we?) then it’s a go.

  • I’m only playin if I can wear my Crusaders top.

  • Luigi

You could ask a few of the Down players, I hear they’re not doing anything for the next month or so 🙁

  • Jimmy

I think a local football Competition against Sectarianism would be more appropriate. The tragic loss of Thomas Devlin and Michael McIlveen prove that.
Sectarianism is a hell of a bigger problem here than Racism which to a large extent is hugely over inflated and part of a Politically Correct, new cultural agenda.

  • Angus Lambkin

let me know if you need playes, would be well up for it

Good idea, get the IFA to organise it so they can play God save the queen while the crowd chant ‘no surrender’ before the game starts.

They will naturally insist on the old Unionist Stormont flag being flown at the game, just in case anyone thinks outside their narrow box.

Songs must include ‘the famine song, rule britannia, dambusters and various other rangers and n.i chants.

    Sorted.

The media will report it as a major success and an additional 10 million pounds will be made available by Gregory Campbell to improve the facilities in grounds that no one goes to.

    Lee,
When I read between the lines of your post I think I am picking up a slight hint of sarcasm. I’m not sure though, am I right?
