Quote of the week…

From the Now Show on BBC Radio Four…

“Frankly it’s been a rather depressing week, I can’t decide which 1980s celebrities I want back less: Michael Jackson or the IRA. At least Michael Jackson’s fans want him to come back. In Northern Ireland even the former supporters do not want any comeback. Especially since it’s not even the IRA, it’s a number of tribute bands.

Yes it’s very confusing what with the Continuity IRA, the Real IRA, the I can’t believe it’s not the IRA, Utterly Nutterly and IRAviva….

A recycled joke originally used by Patrick Kielty – and perhaps by others before him.

  • Thousands attend Hypocrisy’s funeral in Northern Ireland

PSF president Gerrard Stevens said: ‘We deeply regret Hypocrisy’s death, it only seems like yesterday that Hypocrisy was with us all here in Ulster.’ And taking out a bunch of spring onions, he continued: ‘Hypocrisy will be sorely missed – shame he wasn’t by our sniper! Sorry, only joking, over to youse, Mindin.’

You’ll find the ‘good old ira’ busy at work in Sth Armagh. Yesterday evening James Quinn, brother of the murdered Paul Quinn, and some friends erected posters about Paul in the Crossmaglen area and in the wee hours of this morning the ‘good old ira’ came around in a van without number plates, wearing balaclavas and stole the posters which had been asking people to examine their consciences over Paul’s murder. Seems that consciences were indeed pricked. Just hope we are not going to see a ‘war of the posters’ in sth Armagh. Sinn Fein have plenty of posters in the area.
Two of the posters were at the bottom of the Quinn family’s lane and still were stolen. Can’t trust a Sinn Feiner at all these days.

Not to forget The I Can’t Believe It’s Not The IRA, The Continuity Real IRA, The Real Continuity IRA (Splitters!), and The Keepin’ It Real Man IRA.

In reality it’s a couple of hundred people who used to drink in the same pubs. They had a hobby club. Now they have split into various *overlapping* clubs. They probably haven’t told each other all the groups they now actually belong to. Does the PIRA do exit interviews? Does the CIRA have an HR department?

Unfortunately the hobby was armed insurrection.

  • Bock had some good ones last week.

“Does the CIRA have an HR department?”

They’d need to recruit some Hs.
