Slugger update this morning…

Sorry to those of you who wanted to get to Slugger last night. We’ve been cycling three times our normal traffic loads since the seismic events of Saturday evening. I’m going to do an upgrade on the software we use and then do some tweaking to optimise it for higher traffic loads. Everything seems okay at the moment; it’s just at the moment of the surge (no doubt caused by direct links from New York Times and The Guardian and the Telegraph front pages). Please be patient, and we’ll try and stablise the ship…

I hope everyone recognises the service you provide. I for one think you are underappreciated

Yeah, I hope we are through it. Next move is to move up servers… which means more cash

I just hit the tip jar. I figured increased traffic was the reason I was only able to log on after midnight UK time, which is early evening here in California.

More lurker than poster, as an American in love with a Belfast boy this site has been invaluable in helping me learn about NI life and politics and is a daily read. I’ve grown to love the city and it’s people so I’m terribly saddened by recent events. I hope and pray that cooler heads prevail and that violence doesn’t beget more violence. No one I know in NI wants it.

I would hope that regular users of this site help contribute to it’s upkeep. Thanks Mick.

funny that… my anti-spam password is “respect”
