Ireland’s dream ends as Fiji progess in RLWC

Well it was nice while it lasted. Ireland were outclassed in the second half – Fiji go to the semi final against Australia after beating “The Green Machine” 30-14 in Queensland today. Barring upsets, it looks like the hosts will win the competition comfortably.

  • It was Sammy Mc Nally what done it

A real shame as I think we could have turned over Australia in the semis.

lol, is it april fools Sammy?

  • Dewi

    Lol Sammy

It seems ridiculous Figi and Tonga putting their rugby eggs in 2 baskets given the size of their pools of players

“It seems ridiculous Figi and Tonga putting their rugby eggs in 2 baskets given the size of their pools of players ”

It seems ridiculous Ireland competing at all given the size of your pool of players….

  • Dewi

Mind you – this is the real chance to beat NZ on Saturday (in RU that is) – won’t have a better opportunity in a generation.

    Dewi,

most of ours are Englezes – so it doesnt really matter.

By 15 point to NZ – mind you the last time Henry brought a team to Ireland we put 60 point on them – I may be wrong but I think it was Wales?

  • Suchard

The problem is that real League players are forced fed don t’pit and weaned on Tetleys. However the Irish might have a chance in the future as the spoil sport Danes are shutting Tetleys down.

  • Dewi

Real chance Sammy – this NZ team are throwing the ball about……you lot can stop that surely !

  • Donnacha

I hope Saturday’s match has an intimidating Croker welcome for the ABs. While they are used to vitriol (often from their own fans) there are psychological chinks in the team that can be exploited. Can’t see Ireland winning though, sadly.
And a helluva pity about the Wolfhounds falling at the Fijian hurdle, given the class they showed against Samoa. Hopefully it will kickstart some interest in league in Ireland.

“Hopefully it will kickstart some interest in league in Ireland.”

Why? Strangle it at birth !

  • Neil’s Town

Dewi, you 15 aside lot can keep the middle class we 13 aside, home of the delectable Elle Macpherson, shall keep the working class areas ok?

  • Dewi

Elle Macpherson is truly delectable agreed – but there is nowt middle class about 15 a side where I come from….

  • Donnacha

Aaah, Dewi. Fair’s fair mun…If you’d been subject to 13 years of the Spuer 12/14 you’d be backing the NRL as well. At least there is a certain element of certainty about the rules. Go the Penrose Warriors!

  • Neils’s Town

Captacha I am saying nothing. (Execpet every where
you go you always take the ******* with you)
    Elle Mcpherson 13 a side.
15 a side has nothing as good.
    Case closed.
