Cui bono?

Given ongoing concerns about the performance of the legislative Assembly, and how many jobs some MLAs are getting paid to do, it’s not surprising that a story about a proposed 16% pay rise should provoke the raising of quite a few eyebrows.. and calls for an independent panel.. and even, given a particular party employee system, some somewhat meaningless posturing. But, as the BBC’s Mark Devenport now acknowledges, the Senior Salaries Review Body isn’t due to produce a draft report until the summer and, according to UTV’s Jamie Delargy, they haven’t even begun to take evidence in that review.. So who was the source for the story? Cui bono?

In that SF press release note to editors, they say that their MLAs are paid an average industrial wage.
Is there more than one such wage?

What are you trying to say Joe?

I have always wondered how salaries inside SF actually work. Each MLA would still have to be paid, taxed and charged for NIC in the usual way. So does the MLA pay the entire salary to SF, with SF then paying them out of that ? Or does the MLA only keep a certain proportion of it ?

What I am saying is perfectly straightforward.
Does someone publish (a list of?)average industrial wages since SF said “an” average….?

do you mean the avarage wage that an informer would get? an agent of the crown could get more

i wonder what 30 pieces of silver are worth in todays money?

  • Simon Says

As the Daily Telegraph pointed out the province is only the size of Kent yet Kent is in the 21st century and does not require a £5.3 Billion subvention to keep the locals up to desired levels.

Can anyone confirm if MLAs who are also councillors only have to pay N.I. contributions on one salary. If this is the case it is not to hard to guess which one they would choose.
Also will there be an increase in office expensives so that familys like the Robinsons,Paisleys,McCreas and Armstrongs of this world can afford to live?

  • Comrade Stalin

Jesus Christ, Llamedos. Have you ever heard of paragraphs ?
