Magilligan prediction confirmed..

It had been predicted in reports, and has been recommended by the NI Affairs Committee, and the BBC is now reporting that the Northern Ireland Secretary of State, Shaun Woodward, has announced that “A new jail is to be built at the site of Magilligan Prison” at a cost of £215million and housing 800 inmates. According to the report

The new prison will house 800 inmates and will cost about £215m to build. Another £70m will also be spent on providing a further 400 extra places at Magilligan and Maghaberry prisons. Mr Goggins also said it may be necessary to build a third adult male prison in Northern Ireland in the future.

800 inmates! Surely there cannot be that number of people so criminally deviant in such a small jurisdiction that they require incarceration in order to safeguard the rest of the populace?

Can it be that there are plans to crack down on dodgy politicians and property developers. That would explain the necessity for so great an accomodation.
