“The bookies’ odds baffle us, frankly.”

The bookies have him as the rank outsider, 50-1 against, but his campaign manager Phil Woolas claims to be baffled at those odds

“Peter has been in international and national politics for a long time… It is testament to him that almost every minister that has ever worked for him has backed him during this campaign and he has strong support across the UK. I think it will come down to Peter and Alan Johnson. Whatever happens, I expect Peter will have a big job in Government.”

We’ll see.. the next deputy leader of the Labour Party will be announced tomorrow.. and as for those ministers who have worked with him..
