The Irish Times breaking news report quotes lobbyist Niall O’Dowd on the news that the attempt to legalise illegal immigrants in the US has stalled in the Senate, “too early to pronounce it [the bill] dead”. The Professor seems to agree that it’s not completely dead and points to Mickey Kaus’s take on it – “It could well come back. This is no time for gloating… O.K., maybe a little gloating”. Although what shape any eventually resolution on the issue would take is far from clear.
