Oscar Wilde: “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.” Since the Independent Group was the major subject for Ryan Tubridy’s smoky rooms of the media ‘discussion’ last week, it gave them chance to ‘bite back’ at the Phoenix’s Paddy Prendiville, rather gently as it appears.
Much of the alleged media plot against the Fianna Fail-led Government involved the Sunday Independent and our sister titles – at least, according to Paddy. Ignoring the possibility that some newspapers might choose to adapt to keep up with the demands of a changing market [emphasis added], Prendiville accused the Irish Independent of ‘hyping’ stories rather than reporting them.
