Ah for gods sake, thats one more night of trying to dodge middle aged women and randomly stopping taxis and cars outside bingo halls.

Otherwise great idea, Sunday is a major sproting day and a trip down the bookies would occasionally be in order when the internet just doesnt provide the kind of atmosphere you want around betting.

What’s ‘sproting’? How does one ‘sprote’?

    OMG
I’ve been away too long. Next thing you’ll be telling me is that someone will propose letting the kids have a go on the swings on Sunday.
    Surely not!
    What’s the world coming to?

Northern Ieland : The only country in Europe were Sunday football is banned, due to the religious fundamentalism of a section of the community.

You can bet – but you can;t play.

    How backward is that ?

Not true, football is not banned here on Sunday. However football affiliated to the IFA is not played on Sunday.

There are also various reasons why people disagree with recreation on Sunday and they are not just down to relgious beleifs.

Recently the IFA voted to introduce Sunday football, they did however fail to get the 75% majority needed to secure the change. Only falling a few percent short, so it is probably only a matter of time before we will see Sunday football competition here.

It is also worth noting that the IFA are always at the brunt of this issue. There are plenty of other sporting bodies in Northern Ireland who do not advocate recreational activity on a Sunday.

I’ve been through a Free P picket at Ravenhill on the Lords’ Day and I understand the other lot play their native games on Sunday as well.

All children should be obliged to go to Sunday School on Sunday afternoons.
Then, having sat through hell on earth, they are most assuredly guaranteed to earn a place in heaven.

Is it actually true that some councils wont open the parks/playgrounds on sundays?
