How blogging can sharpen your thinking…

And another mainstream journo who gets it… In a combative, and largely free, democracy the quality of a journalist’s questions govern the quality of his final output. Nick Robinson’s been asking his audience for penetrative questions to press Tony Blair with.

  • Here’s to you, Mr Robinson. Tony Blair is only ever on the back foot when confronted by Joe, or Jospehine, Public – witness the notorious hospital visit in the 2001 election when that woman cornered him because her boyfriend wasn’t getting the treatment he needed. Politicians hate having rocks thrown at them, which is what you get in open forums simply because the public doesn’t need to maintain a comfy and symbiotic relationship with our rulers in the way that journos do. QED.

    Hmmm…would it be that simple.

Contacts? Listening skills? Ability to make interviewee relax and say more? Reputation?

I think the word “affect” or even “affect a lot” should replace “govern”
