Horrified….Nefarious…All in a day’s work for Hain

Peter Hain tantilisingly admits: “I have done all sorts of nefarious things as Northern Ireland Secretary that I would thoroughly have disapproved of 30 or 40 years ago.”

“But I’m not going into that.”

Mark Hookham reports in today’s Belfast Telegraph.

can we take that as an admission that all the “nefarious things”, such as collusion, undertaken by the PSNI/UVF had government approval?

Remember this guy also voted to launch an illegal war which has resulted in the deaths of of 100000 innocent civilians.

and to think I use to admire him when I was a lot younger.

  • One of his nefarious acts = wrecking our grammar schools

heck: can we take that as an admission…
He was talking about his own time as SoS, wasn’t he? Check on a calendar…
heck: and to think I use to admire him when I was a lot younger.
Who could possibly admire a TOM? It is however distressing to see someone moving straight from fatuous posturing to cynical expediency without passing through a couple of decades of principled realism on the way.

His actions on Civil Service pay, whereby N.Ireland civil servants are paid a lot less than GB smacks of aparteid, which is where I believe he made his name, as an opponent of this system.

Unfortunately he did not wreck the Grammar Schools, even when the dreadful 11 plus goes, we will still have Grammar schools, just as they have in England.

The Grammar schools are providing a good education. Why should you want them to be wrecked?
