Euro judges wrap Irish knuckles

The European Court of Justices has ruled an Irish government complaint to the United Nations about the Sellafield MOX Plant as illegal. The judges declared:
“By bringing proceedings against the UK within the framework of the Convention on the Law of the Sea, Ireland has breached community law.”

They added that:
“A breach of this nature involves a manifest risk that the jurisdictional order laid down in the Treaties and, consequently, the autonomy of the Community legal system may be adversely affected.”

An embarrasing failure for the Irish government, and time to wrap-up this campaign. If the government is really worried about pollution, then they should look at why this country is way over target compared to what we signed up to in Kyoto, stop building roads and end our over-dependency on fossil fuels.

I strongly agree with you that the Irish government is criminally negligent for not pursuing alternative energy sources, but that they should not be bothered by a badly managed nuclear processing plant a few dozens of miles from our shores is naive.

If the government is really worried about pollution…stop building roads and end our over-dependency on fossil fuels.

And how exactly will building less roads counteract the effects of radioactive waste leaks?
