High Court proceedings begin against Thomas Murphy

The latest news from the new front – the long war against criminality. The Sunday Times reports that the Criminal Assets Bureau are continuing to follow the paper trail and they started High Court proceedings on April 24th to recover €5.3million in assets from Thomas “Slab” Murphy under the Taxes Consolidation Act (TCA). The tax bill is described as an “initial instalment”. The Sunday Times also notes that Murphy had 28 days to appeal the earlier assessment notice issued in March, or agree a settlement, but failed to do so.
