When the Irish Argentine’s were ingleses

This shot is over the Calle San Martín, right in the centre of Buenos Aires. Its just the kind of warming thought you need when you have to take the dogs out for a walk after dark and the wind is coming from a nasty North Easterly direction. It was sent by Irish Argentine Edmundo Murray of Irish Migration Studies in Latin America. His piece on the history of the Irish and the British in Argentina is also well worth the read.

Hi all and happy St. Patrick’s day,

ahhhh great to see the Irish dispora the world over enjoying the day…..We’re like the sleeping dragon….we’re scattered the world over and what happens when we wake? There are millions of us…..
    What will wake the dispora?

Riga was just really another Friday night – the usual collection of stag parties, easyjet groups and a couple of guys in the coffee bar wearing Ireland t-shirts (there may have been more but its not exactly t-shirt weather.)

The idiots who own one of the Irish theme bars came up with the bright idea of having a 1 quid admission charge. As a result it was only 75% of normal capacity as everyone just went to the English theme bar opposite, which sells exactly the same drinks and had no cover charge. Some people just don’t get the idea of capitalism do they?
