Six Shooter available online…

At last, some decent online content from Channel Four. They have the Irish-made winner of the 2006 Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film, Six Shooter available to play online. This is what Film Unlimited made of it in the giddy wake of the Oscars. Thanks to Jimmy for the Heads Up!

Saw this on Channel 4 the other night – very strange! Great performances from Gleeson and Conroy and was very nicely shot in a grim gloomy type way. I was not as impressed with the story and without giving anything away I didn’t think it fitted together terribly well at the denoument. I’d love to have a look at the competition and see what it was like.

    “Very nicely shot”

Yes indeed, considering it was mostly filmed on a moving train. And the cinematographer was Baz (Jeremy)Irvine from Gilnahirk. A polite ripple please.

  • I heard this film described as being ‘British’ despite having an Irish cast, an Irish writer, filmed in Ireland, partially funded by the Irish film board…

When is an Irish film an Irish film and when is a British film a British film?

I know the French have a rule that a film needs to qualify for French status by having 70% french dialogue, french actors etc.

I don’t know anything about the technicalities but this is definately an Irish film. Smoking on a train? Must be Irish!

    And crap food, and gunfire.
    English producer, money?
Bit like the Daily Telegraph journalist last week describing that ‘indefinably English moment’ when Paddy Hopkirk won the Monte Carlo rally.
