As Harry’s Place notes, The mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, has had to apologise for the shock and disbelief, as well as for the offence caused, when he stated, at a ceremony to celebrate Martin Luther King Day, “Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane and it’s destroyed and put stress on this country.”.. the Professor has more links to the speech and commented, “Louisianans are not blessed in terms of their political class.”.. of course, there are those who would still agree with Nagin’s original statement, as has been noted here before.

Has Nagin noticed that God is regularly mad at people who live near regularly unstable weather systems. Or maybe he should look for a better explaination than his imaginary friend.

Obviously caught one of Ian Paisley’s sermons whilst the godfather of Unionism was over there.

Maybe this was Dubya’s payback from God for invading Iraq for Him? Maybe GWB was angry that Louisiana had 2 Democrat congressmen and a democrat senator and asked God to smite the state for their temerity in voting for someone else? You would think if Bush has a direct line to the big guy he could have warned them or have aid on standby…
