UTV’s new radio station…

The new radio franchise u105 was launched on Monday. The station is UTV’s first adventure into local radio. Music seems a large part of the mix, but there will be some heavyweight discussion. At 1 pm this Sunday, Malachi O’Doherty talks to ‘survivor’ Brian Kennedy.

    What a hideous website.

You failed to mention the other new NI radio station that started last week:

    Seven FM

  • GavBelfast

Very early days, but the impression to date is that it is more like an FM version of Downtown than a commercial alternative to Radio Ulster, and I trust that the regulators are watching to ensure their remit is being adhered to.

Slug, I’m guessing one of the presenters is a cousin of mine – so be assured there was no slight intended. I’ve not listened to it yet, but I’m guessing you have. Any thoughts on the output so far.

Rather good. Aims to be part of the Ballymena community in a ‘something for everyone style’. Emphasise their coverage of local sport and politics – helped by their co-ownership with a local newspaper.

    Which Brian Kennedy is this?

UTV would be better employed upgrading their so called “broadband” access in Dublin.

  • Lafcadio

UTV’s Belfast radio station isn’t their first foray into local radio – they own local stations in every urban centre in Ireland, and the purchase of the Wireless Group earlier this year gave them a portfolio of ILRs in Wales, Scotland and the north of England.
