Novelist Julian Barnes on the life and work of the Irish short story writer [and obsessive rewriter], Frank O’Connor, of whom William Butler Yeats said – “O’Connor is doing for Ireland what Chekhov did for Russia”.. the prize is part of the Frank O’Connor Short Story Festival which has been held annually since 2000.
