Trimble in trouble in Upper Bann

Alan Castle the Alliance party’s candidate in Upper Bann told the BBC that Trimble is trouble. His own vote is very tightly squeezed. DUP Lurgan councillor Stephen Moutray says he’s quietly confident that the DUP will take the seat from Trimble without a need for a recount even. But the votes in Banbridge have not been verified yet. Early views are that Simpson has his nose in front. Dolores Kelly told us it’s still too close to call. But the SF vote is holding up to 75% – which augurs badly for the extent of tactical voting in favour of DT.

We are reader supported. Donate to keep Slugger lit!

For over 20 years, Slugger has been an independent place for debate and new ideas. We have published over 40,000 posts and over one and a half million comments on the site. Each month we have over 70,000 readers. All this we have accomplished with only volunteers we have never had any paid staff.

Slugger does not receive any funding, and we respect our readers, so we will never run intrusive ads or sponsored posts. Instead, we are reader-supported.
