Terms and conditions…

INTERESTING terminology used on BBC World Service’s World update yesterday (might be gone now, but the audio was here). The news reader described the DUP as “hardline loyalist” and the UUP as “loyalist”. The SDLP “claims the more moderate nationalist vote” and there’s mention of “republican Sinn Fein”, which the home audience might get worked up about.


    I also heard someone on the world service talk about “Unionist paramilitaries”.

    It would just be too funny if the shinners campaign to have the paramilitaries referred to as unionists was rendered useless as people started referring to the political parties as Loyalists.
