McCartneys appeal in Brussels over Sinn Fein

Three of the McCartney sisters have been in Brussels to bring Sinn Fein’s behaviour in the wake of the killing of their brother Robert to the attention of MEPs.

  • Keith M

They haven’t gone away you know.

  • dozey

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!

  • Pronsias

This is starting to bore me .

  • yetanothershinnersockpuppet

    me too

  • peter

A tad boring now. What on earth to these women think they are going to achieve by going to the useless European parliament?.

Who paid for their air fares there. Seems to me a few mortgages will be paid out if this.

Yes the death was tragic but so is every death. It has never been properly explained what McCartney was doing in the pub are why he was in the company of a well known Belfast hood.

  • SeamusG

Peter, since when did murder victims have to justify their presence at the scene of the crime? I imagine, with the hindsight he hasn’t been afforded, he would have rather not been there.

  • YesI’mAShinnerSockPuppetToo!

It has never been properly explained what McCartney was doing in the pub

Having a drink is now a crime?

That post would be hilarious if it wasn’t so worrying.

  • Jimmy Sands

“Yes the death was tragic but… “

    SF’s election campaign slogan?

  • NewYorker

Did senior SF officials know of order the clean-up and cover-up? As we know from the Nixon era is the US, the intiial crime is one thing and what takes place after to thwart justice is another thing and usually involves others. The scuttlebutt in the US is that Adams either ordered or knew of the plans for the clean-up and cover-up. Are we wrong?

  • Davros

It’s strange that an fhirinne going to Brussels, funded by SF’s MEP allowances, is regarded as brave etc, yet the same doesn’t apply to the McCartney sisters …..

  • Keith M

“It’s strange that an fhirinne going to Brussels, funded by SF’s MEP allowances”…. What they’re sponsoring those ugly muts from Star Trek now? Have their terrorist links now gone extra-terrestrial.

  • Kitty

    Yawn!!!!!!!!!

  • tom luby

where have all the provo bloggers gone?

no slagging please Tom Luby A.U.

  • spirit-level

If it’d been you’re brother killed you’d be angry
shame on the lot of you.

  • PS

    Davros

I think I remember reading that Sinn Féin offered to help the McCartney family with expenses for their trip but the offer was refused.

  • Davros

That would be an interesting turn-up for the book Paddy. Cheers mate.

  • shinnersockpuppet

its time the psni did something about this case-surely brendan devine can name the culprits?

Sorry but the McCartneys have overplayed their hand somewhat.

Where next? now let me see…. thats a problem….but the biggest problem is that the British, Irish, and US media have glazed over from over-exposure to their glum, sad, and ever so depressing tale repeated ad nauseam in those same weary tones-hey but thats the media for you- in the immortal words of Elvis Costello “yesterdays news is tomorrows fish and chip papers”.

  • NewYorker

The question remains unanswered: Did senior SF officers order or know of the clean-up and cover-up of McCartney’s murder?

  • Henry94

    NewYorker

That’s one of those questions that want to be an allegation when it grows up but will never make the height requirement.

  • NewYorker

    Henry,

What’s the answer? Did Adams order or know of the clean-up and covr-up? If he knew, what did he know and when did he know it?

  • Henry94

    NewYorker

If you choose to act like a guttersnipe then you can’t expect to be taken seriously. If you don’t understand what is wrong with your questions then you don’t deserve to be taken seriously.

Please wise a bap! The row in the bar was among a couple of thugs, perpetrators and victims, nothing more, nothing less. Where has this claim been made NewYoker or did you just come up with it all by your wee self?

  • barney

    Kitty

I suspect NewYoker overheard himself say it at one of his fabled dinner parties. So no witnesses then.

  • Davros

The row in the bar was among a couple of thugs, perpetrators and victims, nothing more, nothing less.

The average thug isn’t upto a forensic clean-up of the bar in question. Pathetic.

  • barney

Davros (or anyone else for that matter),

Do you have a theory on why the bar needed to be ‘forensically cleaned’ when Robert McCartney was killed in a nearby side street?

  • NewYorker

The McCartney murder involves two grave crimes: The murder itself and the cleanup and cover-up. Both so far successful. The clean-up and cover-up was organized and clearly required direction from a senior person. Even the contents of the CCTV were taken from the bar to keep it out of the hands of the police and give the organizers of the cover-up a visual of the witnesses in the bar. So, who ordered the clean-up and cover-up? In the absence of an answer, it is reasonable to assume the leaders of Sf and the IRA. Does anybody doubt their members were at the scene of the crime?

  • barney

Feel free to flog that dead horse some more NY, it won’t complain. But why do you suppose the bar needed to be ‘forensically cleaned’ when the crime was committed elsewhere?

  • kitty

“Feel free to flog that dead horse some more NY, it won’t complain. But why do you suppose the bar needed to be ‘forensically cleaned’ when the crime was committed elsewhere? “

Nobody seems to have an answer to that.
Wonder why? its gets curiouser and curioser.
    P. S a bottle of bleach is a brilliant forensic cleaner but according to some here it takes experts to know that.

  • NewYorker

The bar contained the CCTV (importance explained at 4:27) and also the bar was were some of the murder weapons were taken from. Forensic scientists can pick up any number of identifyers in a place a person has recently been in. The person who ordered the clean-up would have been aware of that. Now, who was that person? Not your common thug, as Davros states above.

  • barney

    NY

Lame stuff. Everyone knows Robert McCartney was in the bar earlier that night. So what? He was killed elsewhere. Why would the bar have been forensically cleaned?

  • james quigley

NewYorker- which 1 of the csi shows have you been watching of late? Cover-ups, just email info@whitehall or follow the links from tony Blairs personal site im sure you could learn all you need to know there… cctv, roadblocks, searches the lot.

  • Davros

Davros (or anyone else for that matter),

Do you have a theory on why the bar needed to be ‘forensically cleaned’ when Robert McCartney was killed in a nearby side street?

That’s an incredibly dim question. I can imagine the derision that would meet an objection by a defence team at, for example, an Omagh trial , the introduction of evidence that wasn’t specifically from the scene of the bomb. And it’s telling barney that obviously in your eyes theres no crime in cutting someone’s throat- which DID happen inside the bar. God help us, these people nearly came close to Policing.

  • barney

    Davros,

you fail to explain why the bar needed to be forensically cleaned. Do you really believe it ever happened?

  • Davros

C’mon Barney. You cannot really be serious ?
There was a serious assault in the bar.
How about if and when presses are charged against X for murdering Robert McCartney and he claims he was nowhere near the bar and produces two witnesses as alibi… what would disprove his alibi ? Other witnesses ? Unlikely unless they want the same as happened to Devine and McCartney . Forensic evidence placing X in the bar ? That would do it.

  • barney

Ah Davros, that’s sad. Forensic evidence to prove who was in a bar that’s frequented by the general public every day of the week? Cop yourself on lad.
Pronsias was right two days ago, this subject is rather boring.

  • Jack

Wow!…what a callous, bunch of “head in the sand” comments on this thread concerning Robert McCartney.

I hope the story remains as long as is required (they’ll make a movie of it one day you know!) and I am going help keep it going.

  • Jack

Barney…do you read the papers or watch the news?

You seem to be trying to do your own “clean up” operation here.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh?

  • NewYorker

    Jack,

I totally agree with your description of callous and “head-in-the-sand”. Would some of the posters be so callous if it was their brother or father who was murdered? One thing the McCartney murder proves is that you only have to look the wrong way at an IRA godfather and you get murdered. It could happen to anyone, even some of the posters. It is in the interest of all to have a full investigation and prosecution by the government of both the murder and the clean-up and cover-up.
