School slated over handling of sex abuse

Cabin Hill School, the prep school for Campbell College is at the centre of a row over its handling of a sex abuse case: “It was six years later that the horrific level of abuse emerged after the boy who suffered worst underwent psychiatric treatment at a specialist adolescents unit, aged 17″.

It begs the question, how many other individuals have had to endure this kind of situation? Northern Ireland is not good at producing reliable whistleblowers on any topic, never mind one as potentially cross cutting as this one!

For the last couple of months I’ve been aware of some fairly frightening rumours about widescale abuse reaching into the Northern Irish establishment. As far as I’m aware, there is no evidence in the public domain that any of these are true, but wonder if further revelations of this type may be on the way.

At the same time, can I just counsel people to think very carefully about any comments they may make on this story.
