Fake drugs story makes tabloid headline!

If there’s any truth in it, this story represents a shockingly lax approach to fact checking. The writer claims to have fabricated most of a story, which was picked up on one of the Sunday tabloids last week. We can’t vouch for the veracity of the account, not having seen a copy of the paper concerned, but if it proves true…. Hat tip to Mark!

I remember when I worked in the local press, we used to try and follow up on any stories in the national press about the area the paper was based in.

I remember, for example, a story by Roisin Gorman in the Sunday World a few years ago about a loyalist show of strength in a particular estate, with graphic descriptions of how they turned off the street lights to give them cover etc.

    It never happened.
