Conviction would be a disaster for Sinn Fein

Vincent Browne argues that the Northern Bank heist is a drop in the ocean compared to what the banks have stolen from their customers over the years. But he argues if there is a conviction forthcoming, it will go badly for Sinn Fein, whether they knew about the action in advance or not.

What claptrap – someone wants to explain the meaning of theft to Vincent, he seems a tad confused.

  • Roger W. Christ XVII

David, he’s referring the the actions of the banks in the south which were caught corruptly assisting certain people with tax evasion. The plot thickened when certain senior politicians were caught up in the mess.

I think Browne is wrong actually. The issue about the robbery is its impact on the political process not the rights and wrongs of armed robbery as opposed to tax evasion.

If we knew for a fact that the robbery was the work of criminals then there would be no debate.

It was the work of criminals regardless of which organisation they belong to.

  • David Vance

Yes – I know that is what he is referring to.. but to try and somehow equate illegal tax evasions and other breaches of financial probity with an armed Bank Heist involving kidnap and terror is moronic. Sorry.

Ah, you know what I mean.

It’s one of those clarifications that needs to be made Henry ! But unlike quite a few , you had the decency to be blunt.
