NI to depend on immigration in future?

Andrew McCann points to an interesting piece on the ageing nature of Northern Ireland’s demography. The demographic dividend that has been one contributory factor in the ignition of the Republic’s recent boom may have already substantially passed us by. The key effect is likely to be , as Andrew argues that in future NI’s economy will almost certainly depend on its ability to attract migrants from other countries just to keep the ship steady. Oh, and we may have to work for much longer than the baby boomers had to!
