Bah Humbug!

It’s November for christ’s sake. Get a grip. The BBC, having run out of startling revelations, ‘reports’ (and I use the term as loosely as possible) on the latest pre-christmas hype. Belfast shopkeepers’ are already pushing the idea of “a late christmas rush” – my tip.. stay warm, stay inside, and get those presents online.

I was in Sainsbury (Coleraine) yesterday – people are already doing Christmas shopping.

    Bah Humbug indeed.

  • Keith M

Or do like me and feck off to the southern hemisphere!

  • Colm

AAh I do love that noble age old tradition that occurs around this time each year…. the one where the humbug brigade start moaning about how ‘commercialised’ Christmas has become …

“not like when I were young, nobody mentioned Christmas till a week beforehand , we put a few paper chains up , you were lucky to get an orange in your stocking and we were grateful for it…and nowadays it’s flipping tinsel in Tescos at the end of August , I don’t know what the worlds coming to ………..moan moan grizzle grizzle moan………

Nostalgia isnt nearly as good as it used to be! 😉

    What was Christmas like pre-Coca-Cola😉

  • Colm

It must have been awful. I daren’t even imagine.

I mean do you really think the 3 wise men would have bought such tacky gifts as Gold Frankincense and Myrrh to the stable if instead they could have turned up with crates of ‘the real thing’ 😉

Are Santa and the Three Wise Men related? Anyway, I can never remember which one’s made-up…

  • ulsterman

Santa was really an invention of the Coco-Cola company in the early part of the 20th century. That is the reason for the red and white. Coca cola hijacked St Nicholas.

Ulster needs to get back to Christian values. All the money spent on Christmas is a joke.

    No Surrender and No Popery,

    God Save The Queen.

And a merry christmas to you Ulsterman. May the Blessed Holy Mary, mother of the one true church bestow her blessings on the lost sheep which you have become and may you one day return to the comforting fold of the Holy See.

    In Karol we trust.
