A Pragmatic Approach?

Malachi O’Doherty, in today’s Belfast Telegraph, on the difference between those who can admit to their mistakes and those who are still burdened by responsibility for the consequences of their actions. By way of comparison, in The Blanket, Eoghan O

I watched the same programme as O Doherty and while Morrisson and Magee were forceful in their justification for the Brighton / Thatcher attack, anger is putting it a bit extreme.
Exasperated maybe, that Taylor an experienced journalist, should after all this time be asking republicans why they would want her dead.

But then again we would have been spared the O Doherty sermon on angst and anger. So why not invent a show of emotion in order to give you an angle for a story. It’s not an entirely new tactic of the Tele staff.

  • peteb

So, Pat, were Mitchel and Catriona putting on a show of emotion?…. or was Gerry?

  • Davros

    A good article by Malachi.

Of course people like Adams, McGuinness, Kelly and Magee are in a difficult if not impossible position in respect of justifying their actions. After all they cannot justify their own decisions and actions without simultaneously justifying all the Horrors that the UDA, UVF, LVF, RHC, UFF etc inflicted upon our people.

  • peteb

As Malachi O’Doherty points out, Davros, no evidence of living and learning there.

And even when there is no attempt to justify, as Eoghan O’Suilleabhain suggests, some would prefer to hide and ignore the beliefs they held in the past than to admit now that those beliefs were mistaken.

  • Davros

SF has moved a long way from the days of being labelled “The Green Hungarian Band”.

  • peteb

An essential element of accountability is transparency, Davros.

  • willowfield

Once more, Pat McLarnon leaps to the defence of terrorists and murderers.

  • Davros

Transparency can be a pain – I’m sure those words ran through Gerry’s head after Athboy 🙂

  • Pat Mc Larnon

So, Pat, were Mitchel and Catriona putting on a show of emotion?…. or was Gerry?

They probably couldn’t believe the ineptness of the British in being collared twice in the space of a week and found their stupidity quit amusing.

“Once more, Pat McLarnon leaps to the defence of terrorists and murderers”

I neither agreed with what they said or disagreed, I merely pointed out that, in my opinion, neither man seemed to be angry.

By all means attack me from your cowardly anonymity, but at least do it in a truthful manner.

  • Davros

    “a truthful manner.”

Please post where I wrote that the original bug WAS planted by CIA or Mossad Pat. You are not in a position to cast stones.

  • Pat Mc Larnon

    Davros,
re-read your posts. I thought you had let that particular faux pas die a lonely death. Take that shovel out of your hands right away you silly old fool.

  • Davros

Pat, It’s a simple request. Please post where I wrote that the original bug WAS planted by CIA or Mossad.

You are in no position to accuse others of attacking you with untruths. You lIED about what I wrote.

  • Pat Mc Larnon

    Davros,
try and cast your mind back to the original story. It was you who brought Mossad and the CIA onto the thread in relation to the bugging of a house in Andersonstown. It was you who claimed some knowledge on eaves dropping equipment, based on one TV programme you saw. It was you linked to a ludicrous and patently planted story in the Jerusalemn Post.
It has to be acknowledged that you retreated from your original post faster than snow off a ditch.
I cannot take responsibility for what YOU wrote.

  • Davros

Another Lie from Poison Pat 🙂

I was asked who else would be interested in bugging republican terrorists – and responded.

It may not suit people like you that I remind people that The IRA have had links with Arab Terrorists and that The IRA have killed abroad and that SF have links with FARC, the PLO and ETA/Batasuna. There is also a US connection …as seen in Florida gun running episode.

Quit telling lies Pat. Republicans have a reasonable case on it’s own merit.

I addressed the flawed claim…”there’s a bug been found – it MUST have been planted by the British “

I reminded people that that sort of logic is risky with an example …Catholic Home petrol bombed in Torrens –

assumption by bigots like you – Loyalists did it
reality – republican convicted of the crime.

” I cannot take responsibility for what YOU wrote.”

You WILL take responsibility for telling LIES about what I wrote.

  • Pat Mc Larnon

Poison Pat, liar, bigot, I think you left out Nazi and Fascist, so i’ll just save you the problem of posting. Oh dear we are playing the man with vengeance today.
What of my 11.29am post is a lie, i’d be interested in knowing.

  • Davros

The lie is your repetition of the LIE that I claimed that the CIA or Mossad HAD planted the bug.

I was asked who else would want to bug SF… and answered.

I shall treat you with contempt until you retract that lie.

  • Pat Mc Larnon

    Davros,
You tacitly admit that it was you who brought the CIA and Mossad onto the thread. Good. The denial was too blatant and only made you look more foolish

Do you accept that the bugs were indeed of British origin? After all there weren’t too many denials coming out of Leeds Castle
Where stand you now on your expertise on the bugging equipment?
Do you still believe the CIA and Mossad use 1970’s equipment in 21st century Andersonstown?
Do you still believe that it was the modus operandi of the IRA to drop their weapons after every attack?

Are you now prepared to admit that you swam away out of your depth and were caught out trying to create a smokescreen?

  • willowfield

    Zzzzzzzzz

  • slackjaw

    Get a room, you two.

  • Davros

Pat, please retract the lie that I posted that the bug was planted by Mossad or the CIA.
