How come parts of Shaftesbury square, dubin & Lisburn roads etc.. are turned into a river of urine, with broken bottles, rubbish & other muck every 12th of July and the council clean the area afterwords, yet they didn’t bother cleaning the University area last night?
Was the whole cleansing division of the council on the piss yesterday & last night?
‘Like I said earlier, Duffy is free to pick whoever he wants to play for, good luck to the lad, but he has effectively rejected the chance to play alongside guys who live 2 streets over but happen to be NI fans, in order to play with men from Cork, Galway and Limerick.’
bigchiefally
Duffy is more likely to be playing with fellow Derry players in the Ireland squad than he is with the North’s team. He’s a good chance of playing alongside Darron Gibson, like him a former pupil of St.Josephs, and possibly linking up with former team mates from Foyle Harps like Ireland u19 internationals Shane & Patrick McEleney, who have been away at a training camp in England this week with the FAI. He’s also a fair chance of playing alongside another Derry lad Darren McCauley, who played for Top Of The Hill Celtic & Derry City before making the switch to Glasgow Celtic. So plenty of familiar accents and faces for Duffy to feel at home within the Ireland set up.
I’m sure he’s likely to playing with men from Cork, Galway, Belfast, Derry, Dublin and every other part of the island, as he makes his way through the ranks with Ireland in the coming years.
‘Norwood and Dudgeon to some extent – but they switched while still at youth level, an important difference.’
To some extent???
If Norwood played to England u17 level, and that was acceptable to you why would it be less acceptable for players from NI to change, if they have not played above u17 level (or at a level under 18)
I don’t think Gibson, Wilson etc ever played above u17 level for NI.
I would regard u19 as being youth level also. Obviously u21 is a higher level and a higher standard, but i’m not aware of any of the players from the North who are at a training camp in England with the FAI this week,as having been involved in anything other that youth team level with NI in the past.

The figures talked about for the Irish language are dwarfed by the £110 milliom promised for improvements to 3 sports grounds here.
At this time it would be crazy to waste such a huge ammount of money to massage the ego’s of a few unionist MLA’s and those within the IFA.
For the foreseeable future, these types of projects should be put on hold.
Not sure about the the ‘uh’s and ‘ah’s etc in rusty’s post.

A Belfast epic, and one of my oldest poems, the opener of my first collection, Grub. The gist of the story was found in Moss & Hume’s Shipbuilders to the World: 125 Years of Harland and Wolff, Belfast, 1861-1986, which tells how Eva Peron was due to launch a huge whaling vessel in Belfast, built [...] read our review »
I share many of the concerns of Andy Pollak, whose recent post ‘My Response to the Slugger Begrudgers’ zeroed in on the ‘relentless flow of negativity’ of some Slugger commentators. Pollak’s post was largely concerned with the medium of the blog. Indeed, I think the anonymity of the online world encourages extreme discourse and allows [...] read our review »

McKinney was really shocking yesterday and Seemed to be obsessed with holding hands with people.
The constant looking round and fidgeting was quite unnerving at times.

I wonder does management still allow the workforce to ‘down tools’ and travel in convoy to take down tricolours in Ballymena?

This is a matter for the unionist community, as it only really affects them.
