Rory,
You and I are both aware this was neither the first, nor the last, sectarian atrocity perpetuated by the IRA.
If you had paid attention to Slappy’s post then you would realise he has outlined that the UVF targeted Catholics to put pressure on the IRA.
Now you’ve conceded the IRA operated on exactly the same basis, and thus modus operandi, of the UVF.
So despite your pretensions, Republicans swim in the same sewer as Billy Wright and his ilk.

So to summarise your argument Slappy, the modus operandi of the IRA was exactly the same as the UVF. Yabba dabba doo, any hun will do?

“I was discussing the same incident some years ago with a fairly well placed Republican who had said to me that on the Night of the Murders the events more or less happened as we know. However he did tell me that when the IRA men asked for any Catholic Workers one was pointed out by the other Protestant workers with an enthusiasm.”
A version of events which directly contradicts that of the survivors, including said Catholic worker.
Better check your facts before repeating such slurs from the trash you associate with.

Comment on “Northern Ireland might be becoming more socially liberal, but…”

“Its illuminating that those who object to Watson’s stance on same sex couples and travellers (‘scum of the earth’) are the intolerant ones, at least in Watchman’s bubble.”
Just a pity you’re a flagrant liar Dec. Adrian Watson described those burgling an elderly lady’s home as being “the scum of the earth”.
It’s indicative of your own bigotry that you’d try to imply that this activity is intrinsically linked to the travelling and gay communities.

Comment on Co. Wexford memorial to Edentubber “martyrs”
The idealogy of Irish Republicanism is and has been non-secterian. Unlike Unionism which endorses secterianism and racism.
The graves of Protestants murdered by Republican death squads for no other reason than their religion speak louder than the words babbled by Wolfe Tone over 200 years ago.
Not to mention that Sinn Fein was founded by an apologist for slavery and a supporter of anti-semitic pogroms.

Comment on Don’t play the old game, Conservatives. Confront, don’t withdraw

Mary Ann,
I think you are allowing your own prejudices to blind you into making ridiculous statements.
Molyneaux’s statement reflected a fear, which was held by many within the unionist community, that the IRA wouldn’t have called off a 25 year campaign unless they had a promise of British withdrawal.
Arguing Molyneaux was in favour of IRA murdering Protestants is obsence, and detracts from any lucid comments you may have made.
