Comment on Voice recognition. In a lift. In Scotland.
on 2 October 2010 at 8:21 am
The first comedy is from an up and coming due and their antics pale in comparison to my fall outs with the voice recognition on my S-max. The weans were in fits at me tellin it “tae go eff itself” or having to affect an Anglo accent.
I bumped into Boabby from still game on the other side of the bar in Sharkey’s in the gorbals, still got the same mullet………the prick! I thought ‘still game’ had been on throughout the BBC, I suppose if it had been some utterly pish English comedy then it would have. Anyway anyone checking out the series of the now split up duo (gonny no dae that) responsible would be well rewarded it is in parts hilarious especially the patter from the local Asian shopkeeper Navid and his wife.

Comment on Across the water…. Some thoughts on Scotland.

Wow!, Me I am too scared to look at the student debt letters as the interest seems to grow exponentially. I take it that your debt is PHD debt Stephen or does the ‘eternal’ part equate to SAAS or it’s equivilent allowing you a long leash?
I took a gamble and thought getting my honours would help my prospects and even considered an invitation for a PHD but with 4 weans and a sizeable mortgage the idea of 3 years on 6 and a half grand on top of the other (seemingly wasted) years were my earning power was limited did not appeal. Besides I’m not really an establishment type ;¬)

Somethin weird goin on Stephen………..no not the week to respond the fact that I just received the e-mail today. A whole week after the response.
The charge of using using Unionist lexicon stands, most of which amounts to silly propoganda. Hence we have charges amounting to splitting Scotland asunder from the UK………..separatists etc. which bring to mind a negative whilst the idea of an independent Scotland is a positive. Thus if you are using language like the Scottish labour party when in actuality no such party exists then you are playing their game that consists entirely of fooling an electorate into the understanding that they are distinctly Scottish, whereas anyone with the remotest understanding of Scottish politics knows they are not.
Sure the media are happy willing acolytes to this game, much the same way that they call the stealing of Palestinian land by the temperate and and almost nurturing name of ‘settlements’. In reality they are enclosed colonies surrounded by free fire zones which include much Palestinian farmland now unused through threat of death.
I am also in the same boat regarding student debt and remember young students back at the last election enthusiastically disscussing voting SNP because they were specifically going to address student debt, some of which is higher than 15 grand. These young people will now be disabused of the notion that the SNP are in fact much different from the labour party who are up to their ears in West Baltimore type corruption.
Saying all that I have recently took the bull by the horns and have recently involved myself with the local party branch(new young blood and aw that) rather than just dipping in and out to deliver leaflets at elections.
My overwhelming thoughts are that too many sheep are feart of the Tories and will believe anything labour say.

Did someone say that events had passed in Scotland without sectarianism.
True apart from the odd petty incident;

Oh and a noticable increase in the FTP brigade out shouting their obscenities around my way prior to the visit.
Oh and Alan, Celtic did win but it was hard going so it was best the Pope didnae hang around to watch his eleven.

Comment on Hamilton: open to talks with UVF but not meeting Catholic leader?

True chaps, the civil/uncivil dig is ridiculous and although I picked out the obvious reference point in FTP you will see much worse sentiments and words than “pish” on slugger virtually every day.
Sadly the other reasons I have spelt out seem to be the constant.

To be fair GF the weather forecast up until the last hours was for a horrible day, indeed many people were well covered up even though it turned out sunny if a wee bit windy day. For once the Edinburgh Gadgies outdone the Glesga weegies for numbers………for shame!
I admit to making a last minute trip (all of 3 mins drive) with two of my boys upto the side of the M8 motorway at the Garngad where there was a hundred or so Papes of various colours and nationalities, we had just enough time to see his motorcade zip by before we went to fitba training.
My youngest wasn’t impressed that he didnae wave.

The Papes no more own this label than any other organised religion…………so gie’s peace!
I could never seek to defend the church’s actions on far too many occassions regarding this issue, but you and your ilk just seek to use it as an extension of your bigotry………………well that is the way it comes across gerry. As always however I will apologise if I am wrong and you demonstrate that you attack every other organisation who has been complicit in this in the same manner.
Somehow I don’t think you do.
Re-UVF. A hopeless far reaching comparison with the church.

Whilst I appreciate that you have picked up on the substance of my point I find your response baffling. The overwhelming message that I have picked up from the Pope’s visit thus far is of the ‘Christian community’ tackling the rise of secularism and it’s hegemonic ethos that now prevails over society. Now I know that on occassions like this Presbyterians do not show themselves up in a good light and in fact the bigotry is cringeworthy, but for the life of me do not believe the Pope doesn’t recognise them as a religion.
Perhaps it is primacy issues that you mean?

Stop being silly slug!
Unless you are prepared to be thought of in the same light as the obvious sectarian bigots hereabouts you have quite a hefty challenge proving that Papes have exclusive ownership of child abuse;

I suppose in light of the above I cannot be aghast at your other comment regarding the innapropriateness of the moderator bringing up the issue with the Pope.
I’d better get to my bed before my bewilderment gets the better of me……….ye Gods!
