Paddypower have Marty at 9/2. For those who don’t frequent the bookies a £10 bet will get you £55. Can’t see it happening myself. Perhaps Gerry is pushing Marty in to test the waters before going for it himself next time around?
Nevin I would have put my money on Gildernew. I’m just saying what I read on BBC though.
Stalin I don’t want to drag this thread off topic but I just don’t think O’Dowd has the maturity or stateman like qualities to take up the dFM role. For a short period while Marty is away he’d probably be able to drift through without incident but any longer than a few weeks or months and relationships would start to turn sour.
The BBC are suggesting that John O’Dowd will step in as dFM during the election campaign. I can’t see him getting along with the DUP and Peter Robinson. He’ll need to be well briefed and warned to bite his tongue as he is the type who enjoys a bit of sectarian shit stirring.
On the issue of Spain I was talking to a few Catalans today in Barcelona and their take on the early election is that it’s the right thing to do. However, a change in party will be almost inevitable and may bring brief joy to the people but it won’t drag them out of the hole they’re rapidly sinking into. They’re screwed but they’re quite happy to give the government a good boot out the door before launching into attacks on the new government.
McIlroy seems to have a thing for failed golfers. He used to play with my mate until the money started coming in now it seems his failed golfer friend is not worth his time.
I’ve heard a few people comment that he is rather up himself but saying that I’ve never met the man myself so I can only say what I’ve heard.
I’m no fan of the Orange Order and I’m not trying to defend them but this photo seems to back up their claims that they marched to the bridge to hand over thier request to proceed down Garvaghy Rd.
The Parades Commission ruled they cannot enter Garvaghy Rd and if this picture is from Wednesday nights parade it would seem they only proceeded to the bottom of the hill and not onto the Garvaghy Rd.

Ed Moloney’s Voices from the Grave: Two Men’s War in Ireland has received considerable attention in the press and in the public realm since its publication earlier this year. Although the book relates the experiences of the Provisional IRA’s Brendan Hughes and the PUP/UVF’s David Ervine, much of the discussion has focused on Hughes’ stories [...] read our review »

“Conor Murphy is the only man to replace him as DFM.”
Murphy can’t keep the water flowing never mind democracy.

Ah yes thanks Mac. I’m not great with technology at times!
It seems from this photo which I’ve only just found that indeed they did walk down Druncree Rd right to the edge of Ballyoran:

In which case those identified should be dealt with accordingly
