* the IRA killed more females, more children, more Catholics and more old age pensioners than any other group since 1969.
Indeed, more Catholics died than Protestants during the Troubles. Another ‘proof’, if proof were needed, that the 30-year IRA campaign of terror was a colossal blunder by the Republican movement.
If IRA atrocities were ‘civilized’, then the original Stormont regime was utopia!
Wise up folks, no amount of rationalizing or moral ‘equivalencing’ can hid the fact that the IRA campaign was brutal and barbaric and condemned Northern Ireland to 30 years of violence, hatred and fear and resulted in 3,500 deaths.
Good news was hard to come by in the Northern Ireland education world of 2010, that is, apart from the fact that NI students again got the best GCSE and A level results in the UK.
In fact, in A* A Level grades awarded, NI students were 10% better than second placed England.

I can just see the Russians trembling at the thought of French bravery.
Considering the fact that French hasn’t won a war in almost 150 years, here are a few observations on the French ‘threat’:

JFK’S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60′s when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies.
At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.
He then asked, ‘Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?’
Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, ‘Maybe it’s because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn’t have to speak German.’
Assange overstepped the mark when he released the diplomatic cables. Ultimately, he will be responsible for less, not more, information being available.

gendjinn,
An interesting omission from your ‘list’
