Comment on Identifying the 14 ahead of an apostolic departure?
on 3 February 2010 at 7:14 pm
I am just curious, but UTV stated yesterday that Peter Robinson is not a member of the Orange Order – even though he famously marched alongside Ian Paisley in L,Derry in 1986 – does anyone know if he is a member of the Orange Order or which prominent members of the DUP are not loyal members?

I think that Eamonn Mallie is, perhaps, overplaying Maskey’s comment about ‘helping Peter Robinson’ out. I actually watched that interview on Stormont Live and I didn’t get that impression, only that the deal was good for Sinn Fein. I don’t think Maskey really made a comment on ‘helping Robinson’ out or trying to get him out of a tight jam – only that clarification would be given on the issues of concern to the DUP. I think that Eamonn, like many in the media this week including Stephen Nolan, is overplaying this issue, which is playing on the public’s frustration and bleak perception of the negotiations. The issues being debated by all parties are undoubtedly complex – and complex issues need time for debate and clarity.
Just as a note, I am apolitical and not a DUP supporter.

scarecrow – is that true? What radio programme suggested that?Seems like a strange thing to say and at this rate I would saythat Robinson will never make it to Scotland!

Is Sammy not an extremely loyal Robinson supporter, I can’t imagine him pulling away from his friend…I didn’t actually get a poor perception of that conference to be honest

Fitzjameshorse, Robinson does look bad – He has lost a ton of weight and is white as a sheet…Paisley looks better but seriously I think Robinson does not look well, he must be under huge stress – he should, for his own health take some time off…
