As Mick pointed out the lights were hitting the autocue which was the problem.
I watched it thinking it had been written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant it was sooo cringeworthy.
Very poor indeed and yes i’d say there will be a few booted jacksies backstage after thon car crash.
An inauspicious start

They are at Writers Square opposite St Annes cathedral and near the Police Ombudsmans office.
To be fair there were another 20 or so people at a meeting on the other side of the square

Comment on POTD – Hugenot cemetery
on 14 October 2011 at 5:03 pm
Malcolm I think i’m right in saying that there is a Hugenot museum (and entrance fee?) to the left hand side of this. So that perhaps would pay for the upkeep. I’ll check next week

England must be rueing their gross ineptitude of not signing up Shaun Edwards when they had a chance. His contribution to the Welsh success shouldn’t go unacknowledged.

Indeed i was alluding to the Rugby Cup in 12years. I hadn’t made that connection re the move from the lower Ormeau. I have very vague memories of the club on a sunday afternoon (Hogarth springs to mind.)

Comment on POTD – Demolition by hand
on 21 September 2011 at 8:12 am
The collapsed buildings didn’t destroy the records per se, often there were fires which destroyed the records. Alot of the buildings date back to mid 1800′s (think Cuba) but were already in a state of disrepair and the earthquake did for them.
I know of one charity that is building schools out of shipping containers and whilst they are often anchored down, should a dispute arise over where the school is located, the container is simply moved somewhere else to carry on providing a much needed service.

Nothing wrong with a bit of pedantry AGH. If you clicked through on the first link you might have learned something. But in the interest of clarity (and pedantry)First the Spanish then the French were the colonial enslavers.
The Black Jacobeans by CLR James has detailed accounts of the horrors of slavery on Haiti.
By the by with ref to Napoleon, tthere is a village north of Port-au-Prince that descendants of a Polish Regiment who deserted the French forces still live. You can tell them apart by their striking blue eyes. Unfortunately i didn’t get a chance to go.
