  1. Comment on Gerry Adams: “I have no recollection of that whatsoever.”

It is probably safe to predict that anyone hoping to see the day when Adams is arrested, let alone tried and convicted, is going to die unsatisfied.
I wonder if anyone could successfully engage in a civil damages case.

  2. Comment on “Poll: Scotland on the brink of independence” Time to panic?
    on 22 April 2014 at 11:03 pm

If the Scots do vote for independence, what do people think the impact will be on N.I.? Would England and Wales decide to downsize?

  3. Comment on Scotland Essay: Why the No side should be looking up in Scotland…
    on 21 April 2014 at 11:01 pm

If the “real” poll is a 48% – 52% split, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Emotions could play a big part; people might vote “Yes” thinking that the end result will nevertheless be “No”. I suspect that is part of what happened in the most recent Quebec referendum (1995 and a 49.5 % yes). Mind you, the question was long and easily misunderstood and there was documented evidence of some vote rigging.

    Hot Dang its good !!

    Interesting times indeed.

Maybe. If a week is a long time in politics (Harold Wilson), how long is a year or how much longer is 9 years?

Besides, it shows that you do care and weren’t just apathetic.

If you want to protest, much better to go and spoil your ballot.
Otherwise someone else might steal your vote. I discovered that when I first voted; my brother was next to me on the register and his name was crossed out as having voted. That was impossible as he was living 5000 miles away and there was no provision for postal voting back then.

  7. Comment on Belfast Telegraph’s Are you voting for the wrong party poll, and other political anomalies?
    on 21 April 2014 at 4:48 pm

Mick, the Party was SF and I guess I must agree with most of their “leftish” policies, being somewhat left of centre. The reason I currently wouldn’t vote for them is that I don’t believe or trust their President and a few others..

Pat Finucane a solicitor, supporting the cause, getting hideous men guilty of hideous things off..

    DC,
I guess you’re telling us that you don’t subscribe to the legal tenet of the UK that people are innocent unless found guilty.

  9. Comment on A tale of two wars (well two divergent accounts of the same war)…

BTW, I have seen much lower figures quoted; at any time there were no more than 300 – 500 “active service” members.
